I am a diabetic and the team determined I had a serious complication known as diabetic ketoacidosis – which can be life-threatening. “I’m not one to sit still. When my joint pain became an obstacle to my active lifestyle, I knew I had to do something about it. I found orthopedic surgeon Dr. Hawkes online and his experience with robotic-assisted surgery was interesting to me. I met him and he is very easy to talk to and he listens. He explained everything that would happen with the robotic-assisted procedure. I had hip surgery in March and the results have been great. I’ve been able to get up, be out in the yard working, tinker around, cook and stay busy. I have full mobility and can bend and twist.
