Neonatal Care
Most babies are born around their due date and without significant complications. For babies born up to eight weeks early or in need of extra special care following birth, our Neonatology team is ready to step in.
Our Team
Our neonatology specialists provide in-person medical care for infants ranging from 32 to 42 weeks gestation, including for:
- Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and most forms of respiratory support
- Low birth weight/prematurity
- Hypoglycemia
- Infants from mothers with substance abuse
- Parenteral nutrition (intravenous feeding)
- Treatment of infection
Our Facility
Whether your baby needs advanced care for hours, days, or weeks following birth, they'll be surrounded by the support of our skilled team of neonatology providers and nurses in the safety and comfort of the Ashley Regional Special Care Nursery.
Should your baby need specialty care beyond our nursery's capabilities, our team is able to partner with the University of Utah team through telehealth. The University of Utah physician can be in the room to help determine the best next steps. If transport is needed, the Ashley Regional team is trained and ready to prepare your baby for a safe journey to the most appropriate facility.
Our nursing staff are highly trained including AWHONN fetal monitoring, NRP Newborn Resuscitation and STABLE.
